This has to be the best alternative to doing a distillery tour. We were invited to visit the bar for a welcome dram where we were treated to the excellent 2023 Càirdeas release.
We followed that up a very well priced tasting flight comprising 4 different batches of the 10yo cask strength. In addition to a copy of the tasting notes the host also gave us a great overview of each of the drams. If you’ve only tried the “standard” Laphroaig, these whiskies will show you another side to what’s on offer here. Definitely reignited my love for the brand and a Batch 12 is on its way!
It was a wonderful day. I did the hiking and water source tour.
It was beautiful, Sorcha was perfect. We had fun, a big lunch all together, and 6 drams between the hike and the warehouse.
I found the best smoky cheese of Islay.
And some nice people from Canada.
It was very nice indeed.
Recommended to anyone who wants to have a different experience.
It was one of the best distillery tour.
Had a very fun tour with Chris (aka David). A young lad with a clear passion for the spirit of Laphroaig. He was able to share the story and heritage and still maintain a down to Earth aloofness that kept everyone laughing. The industry needs more gentlemen like this who love their spirits and can entertain a crowd. Cheers, thank you for an amazing experience.
OMG! We absolutely loved this tour. MacKayla was an awesome guide! We loved the location, loved the fact that they had complimentary coffee and a beautiful lounge area. On top of that, they have nice tables outside where you can sip and enjoy your time there. If I could do anything differently, I would have just spent more time here. We had to rush a little bit because we had another tour 15 min once this ended.
Additional tip: we absolutely would recommend the tour where you bottle your own bottle. It was an unforgettable experience!
Trip of a lifetime! We recently visited from the USA and enjoyed a wonderful tour, including seeing one of the only malting floors in operation on the island. Not only was the facility fun, the staff friendly, and the whisky amazing, but we were also graced with a gloriously sunny day. Laphroaig is one of the few that uses Islay peat and you can really taste the difference. Thank you Laphroaig for making our time on Islay so memorable!
Absolutely best tour. They malt and roast the grains on site so getting to smell and taste the barley was so unique. And the lovely drams to finish it off was perfect.
One of the best tours I've taken. If possible do the 4 hour tour! The Tour guides will answer any questions you have. AND of course an excellent tasting process throughout the tour. I will come back when I visit Scotland again!
Great whisky. We did Lagaveulin, Laphroaig, and Ardbeg all in the one day. Chose to do the cask tasting “tour” at Laphroaig. Very cool to taste from the cask and our tour guide was super informative, answered any and all questions and helped us fill our own small bottles (300 ml?) directly from the casks to take home with us. What you will NOT get on this tour is a tour of the actually barrel room or any sort of facilities tour if that is what you are interested in. We had already done a classic distillery tour of production at Ardbeg so we were fine to miss out on it here. Tried a sherry cask, a bourbon cask, and a champagne cask Whisky.
